REPENTENCE / SAVIOUR

How can I accept God into my life and be saved? (John 3:3)

Accepting God into your life and being saved involves you turning away from sin, believing in the death and resurrection of Jesus, and receiving Him as Lord and Saviour of your life.

Here is the step-by-step process.

First you must consider your life and then turn away from everything in it that is contrary to what God wants. This turning away from selfishness and towards God is called repentance (Matt. 3:7 10; Acts 3:19).

Second, you must acknowledge that Jesus Christ died on the Cross to forgive you of sin. You take Him as your Saviour to cleanse you from sin – as the substitute who paid the price due for your sin (Rom. 5: 9, 10; Titus 2:14).

Third, you must ask Him to be Lord of your life, acknowledging openly and verbally that Jesus is not only your Saviour but your Lord (1 John 2:23).

The Bible says that as many as received Him were given the power to become the sons of God (John 1:12). So when you open your heart and receive Him, he comes into your heart – your inner person – through His Holy Spirit, and begins to live His life in you. From that point it is your privilege and call to confess what God has done (Rom. 10:9).

Here is a suggested prayer you could pray

You can accept Jesus by faithful prayer... Praying is speaking with God, no more, no less. He knows you. It's not the words that matter, but what you believe in your heart. An example of such a prayer:

"Dear Lord Jesus, I need You. I repent of all my sin.

I ask you to forgive me for not serving you with all my heart.

From this day forward I will start all over again. And so as I repent of every sin I have ever committed, I ask you to come into my life, and to be the Lord of my life.

I will serve no other God but you.

Thank you, Lord that you are a covenant-keeping God, and even as I endeavour, by the power of your Holy Spirit, to keep my side of the covenant, I know that you will keep your side.

I ask all these things in the powerful and precious name of Jesus Christ, my Lord and Saviour.

Amen.

Does this prayer reflect what's in your heart? If so, pray this prayer and trust in Gods promise. Jesus Christ will come into your life.
